Sofia Pashaei’s paintings depict intimate relationships and evolving identities. Her narrative artworks subtly show the passage of time through architectural changes and object details. Pashaei’s pieces require time for observation, revealing seamless transitions and profound shifts. The smoothness with which she paints the transitions from a couch to a bathtub, or a windowsill to a table is a reflection of the way a person’s identity can be structured as many dissonant but woven ‘rooms’ at once. Pashaei’s work explores identity, particularly in multicultural contexts, where home serves as a canvas of diverse identities. Framed pictures act as windows into core values.
